Dr. Brian S. Boxer Wachler is a board-certified American ophthalmologist. He practices refractive surgery (vision correction). He is the director of the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute in Los Angeles, California and on staff at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Boxer Wachler graduated from UCLA with a degree in psychobiology.[1][2] While at UCLA, he rowed on the crew team for two years followed by two years on the national championship Speech and Debate Team.[1][2] He was selected for the Rotary Foundation International Scholarship in Edinburgh University[2] where he also rowed on the Scottish national championship crew team which culminated in competing in the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames.[1] He received his M.D. degree from Dartmouth Medical School which was followed by ophthalmology residency at Saint Louis University Eye Institute and fellowship training in refractive surgery at University of Kansas Medical Center and Durrie Vision.[1][2]
He is known as a pioneer for keratoconus treatments which include Intacs and corneal collagen crosslinking with riboflavin (C3-R).[3][4][5][6][7][8][9] He is also an expert in advanced LASIK vision correction.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19]

He has been selected as the personal LASIK surgeon for TV talk show host Dr. Phil, singer Seal, Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher, actress Laura Linney, Laker's announcer Stu Lantz, actress Mimi Rogers, actor Tony Curtis, entertainer Eve Jeffers, and Cleveland Indian baseball player Nick Petrucci. He is also the eye surgeon for professional boxer Shane Mosley, WNBA basketball player Lisa Willis, Gold Medal Olympic Bobsled driver Steven Holcomb, and first James Bond Girl Ursula Andress among thousands of other patients.[24]
Dr. Boxer Wachler's philanthropic activities include founding Giving Vision, a non-profit charity, that is dedicated to providing free exams and eyeglasses to underprivileged children in Los Angeles.[25]
In 2007 U.S. Bobsled Driver Steven Holcomb retired from his sport due to vision loss resulting from Keratoconus. He was treated by Dr. Boxer Wachler with the C3-R procedure followed by an insertable contact lens. He regained his eyesight and came out of retirement.
